Naimish Patel, Chief Executive Officer

Naimish Patel is the Founder and CEO of Gridco Systems, a leader in agile grid infrastructure solutions, enabling utilities to more effectively integrate renewable and distributed generation, increase energy efficiency, manage peak capacity, and improve system reliability. Previously, Naimish was an EIR at General Catalyst Partners where he focused on investment opportunities in clean technology, advanced materials, and life sciences.  Prior to joining General Catalyst, Naimish was one of the four founding team members of Sycamore Networks, a leading provider of optical networking solutions for mission-critical networks. Naimish holds B.S., M.S., and M.Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is the holder of 18 patents. He serves on the Advanced Energy Economy Board of Directors and on the President’s Council at Olin College.

James SimonelliJim Simonelli, Chief Technology Officer

Jim Simonelli is Chief Technology Officer of Gridco Systems, where he is responsible for the company’s technical vision and strategy. Most recently, Jim served as Senior Vice President and CTO of American Power Conversion (APC), a Schneider Electric company and leading provider of global, end-to-end AC and DC-based back-up power products and services. In addition to setting the direction for technical innovation at APC, Jim’s responsibilities included design and development of leading hardware, software, and data center solutions. At APC, Jim also held senior management roles as Vice President, System and Platform Architecture and Vice President, Solutions Delivery Group with responsibility for technical direction and offer creation. Jim holds 10 U.S. patents and is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), and the System Dynamics Society. He received his BSEE and MSEE degrees from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

Jim AndrusJames Andrus, Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Jim Andrus is Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing. Jim has global responsibility for the sales and marketing teams. He is responsible for developing and implementing Gridco’s sales and marketing strategy to help achieve the company’s business objectives.  Jim has worked for over 25 years in the energy industry and brings a strong combination of technical knowledge and business strategy experience. Throughout his career he has worked with energy utilities on a global basis in achieving improved operational efficiency, smart grid automation and technology strategy/implementation.  Prior to joining Gridco Systems, Jim was at Tollgrade, where he was Vice President of Global Smart Grid Sales. Prior to Tollgrade, Jim led global sales at Echelon and Aclara/ESCO Technologies. He has also held executive sales and marketing management positions with leading utility suppliers including ABB/Elster and Itron. Jim holds a BA from the University of Hartford and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Vince Martinelli, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management

Vince Martinelli is responsible for managing the company's product roadmap and articulating the business case for agile grid infrastructure. Vince brings over 25 years of product experience and an in-depth understanding of how to effectively drive new technology into legacy systems, transforming them in the process. He joined Gridco Systems in 2013 from Amazon Robotics (formerly Kiva Systems), where he led a team responsible for the integration of Kiva's robotic order fulfillment system into Amazon's global network. Prior to Amazon, Martinelli led the North American arm of Professional Services at Sycamore Networks. He has also held senior management positions at Corning Inc., including product management roles in the Optical Fiber business. Vince earned both the SB and SM degrees in Materials Science & Engineering, with a concentration in Economics, from MIT, where he was a Tau Beta Pi Fellow and an Academic All-American athlete.

Paul Sylvia, Vice President of Operations

Paul Sylvia is the Vice President of Operations of Gridco Systems, where he is responsible for  manufacturing operations, quality and supply chain. Paul brings over 20 years of technical international leadership experience from the manufacturing industry, primarily power reliability. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Operations for A123 Energy Solutions, a leading provider of advanced battery systems for the electric grid, back up power and commercial applications. Paul developed and managed the operations teams and facilities in MA, MI and in China for all packs and systems products. Prior to joining A123 Systems, Paul served as GM of Operations for American Power Conversion. Paul joined APC in 1992 and eventually became the Operations leader for APC’s Server & Data Center Executive Teams. He directed the manufacturing resources, production activities and new product releases for APC facilities in the US, Europe and in Asia. Prior to APC, Paul managed the Test Engineering group at Lockheed Martin/ Sippican, a leading manufacturer of military countermeasure systems and oceanographic equipment. Paul holds a BSEE from University of Massachusetts.

DarDarrell Furlong, VP of Engineering, Gridco Systemsrell Furlong, Vice President of Engineering

Darrell Furlong is Vice President of Engineering for Gridco Systems, where he oversees hardware, software, and mechanical engineering design execution. Darrell is a seasoned engineering executive manager with over 30 years of experience in product development spanning data communications and the electrical power utility industries.  Prior to joining Gridco Darrell was VP Engineering at Amperion where he was responsible for developing power line communication technologies for high voltage differential relay protection applications.  Darrell started his career as a founding member of Concord Data Systems and was a founding member of a spin out called Concord Communications.  Following Concord Darrell joined Wellfleet Communications where he was Director of Hardware Platform Development for the backbone multiprotocol router.  Darrell then joined Metorobility and Vina Technology as CTO and Vice President of Engineering before founding Sagamore Systems as its President.  Darrell is a native of New England and earned his BSEE, Summa cum Laude, from Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

Eric Peterson, Vice President of Software

Eric Peterson is Vice President of Software for Gridco Systems, where he oversees development of all the company’s software-based control and management offerings. Eric brings over 24 years of technical expertise, engineering experience, and management capability to his role as VP of Engineering. Previously, Eric was a Senior Director of Engineering at Juniper Networks, where he led engineering teams building carrier-class routers and Junosphere, a first-of-its-kind cloud offering designed to help operators more efficiently design, test, and operate networks. As a Senior Distinguished Engineer at Juniper, he also provided technical leadership across product lines from wireline subscriber management to mobility. Eric was a founding member of Arris Networks and Redstone Communications, with leadership responsibilities that included software architecture and routing systems. In addition, he has held a variety of engineering, software development, and management positions at Data General, Samsung, and Xyplex. Eric holds a BS in Computer Science from Pennsylvania State University.
